Bruce Bond and Cyrus Cassells: Reading and Conversation

Join us for an evening of poetry and conversation with poets Bruce Bond and Cyrus Cassells. Both authors will read from their most recent collections and sign books. Bruce Bond's most recent collections are Gold Bee, (Southern Illinois University Press, 2016) and Sacrum (Four Way Books, 2017). Cyrus Cassells' most recent collection is The Crossed-Out Swastika (Copper Canyon, 2012). His sixth book, The Gospel according to Wild Indigo is forthcoming from Southern Illinois University Press in 2018. Hosted and moderated by Sebastian H. Paramo. 


About the Authors

Bruce Bond is the author of eighteen books including, most recently, Immanent Distance: Poetry and the Metaphysics of the Near at Hand (U of MI, 2015), For the Lost Cathedral(LSU, 2015), The Other Sky (Etruscan, 2015), Black Anthem (Tampa Review Prize, U of Tampa, 2016), Gold Bee (Helen C. Smith Award, Crab Orchard Award, Southern Illinois University Press, 2016), and Sacrum (Four Way Books, 2017).   Four of his books are forthcoming:  Blackout Starlight: New and Selected Poems 1997-2015 (E. Phillabaum Award, LSU), Rise and Fall of the Lesser Sun Gods (Elixir Book Prize, Elixir Press), Frankenstein’s Children (Lost Horse Press), and Dear Reader (Free Verse Editions).  Presently he is Regents Professor at University of North Texas.    

Cyrus Cassells is the author of five acclaimed books of poetry: The Mud Actor, Soul Make a Path through ShoutingBeautiful SignorMore Than Peace and Cypresses, and The Crossed-Out Swastika. His sixth book, The Gospel according to Wild Indigo, is forthcoming in the spring of 2018 from Southern Illinois University Press. Among his honors are a Lannan Literary Award, a William Carlos Williams Award, a Pushcart Prize, two NEA grants, and a Lambda Literary Award. He is a Professor of English at Texas State University.
