Hosted by Courtney Marie and Sebastian Paramo, Pegasus Reading Series was founded in 2014 by Robert Torres and Sebastian Paramo. Now independently run by working artists, our aim is to bring together writers from the Southwest and beyond.
Join us for an evening of words with Rebeccas Bernard, Ofelia Faz-Garza, Machele Johnson, and Minadora Macheret.
Bios forthcoming!
REBECCA BERNARD received her MFA in fiction from Vanderbilt University where she served as fiction and music editor for the Nashville Review. Her work can be found in journals such as Epiphany, The Journal, and Bat City Review.
OFELIA “MexMama” FAZ-GARZA is an {art}ivist from Oak Cliff. She’s inspired by the subtleties of life and uses her writing as a way to celebrate the rituals that root us. Her work crosses genres and has been included in Women in Nature: An Anthology, Outrage: a Protest Anthology for Injustice in a Post 9/11 World, and BASTA! 100+ Latinas Speak Out Against Violence Against Women. She’s performed with Dark Moon Poetry and Arts, The Lost Poets Society, Poets on X+, and Voces del Norte de Tejas.
MACHELE JOHNSON is a Dallas based artist proficient in music, color, and words. She has been showing her various works throughout the metroplex for about 2 years. Currently Machele's main focus is fine tuning her wordsmith skills. Her words focus on the dreamy complexities of sounds, music, and romantic sorrow laced with hope. You can find her words in "Kill Line", an Anklebiters' Publication due to be released in October and "I'm Sorry, But it's Awfully Loud in Here" a handmade chapbook.
MINADORA MACHERET is a first-year Ph.D. student and Teaching Fellow at the University of North Texas. She is the Poetry Editor for Devilfish Review and Co-Coordinator of Poets in Pajamas. Her work has appeared in Red Paint Hill, Tinderbox Poetry Journal, Rogue Agent, and elsewhere. Her first chapbook, Love Me, Anyway, is forthcoming from Porkbelly Press (2018). She also runs bilingual poetry workshops for Kansan youth and enjoys hiking with her beagle, Aki.
