We're excited to announce our involvement with Uplift Luna Preparatory, a free, public, preparatory charter school located here in Deep Ellum. We fully support Luna's mission: to close the achievement gap between students, regardless of their ethnic or socio-economic background and to ensure that 100% of their scholars graduate and enroll in college.
What does an independent bookstore have to do with sending kids to college?
We're participating in an innovative program that directly pairs community leaders with Luna scholars in order to continually challenge the growth and development in their education.
Translated: we're hosting book groups for their top 20% of readers in grades 6 through 8.
Every day, scholars dive into great books, analyze the text, discuss the issues, argue their points, and develop a deeper understanding of the literature, guided by the Deep Vellum team. Our goal is to provide an accelerated reading structure for advanced readers and teach the tools necessary to analyze literature across a variety of forms.
